How to turn YouTube research into a video script

A creator workflow for turning saved links, notes, transcripts, product research, and audience angles into a reusable knowledge base and a video-ready script.

Good YouTube scripts rarely start from a blank prompt. They start from scattered material: competitor videos, product pages, notes, comments, specs, screenshots, and half-formed angles.

The reliable workflow is to collect the research once, organize it into a creator knowledge base, then generate a script that can still be checked against the original sources.

Step 1: Capture the research pile

Add the materials that shape the video:

  • Product pages, reviews, PDFs, and spec sheets
  • Your own talking points and rough notes
  • Competitor video transcripts
  • Audience comments, objections, and repeated questions
  • Screenshots or facts that must be verified before recording

Do not ask AI to invent the angle too early. First, make the source base visible.

Step 2: Ask for angles before asking for a script

Use the knowledge base to find:

  • What viewers already know
  • What is controversial or confusing
  • Where products, claims, or opinions conflict
  • Which facts should be shown visually

This gives the script a reason to exist instead of becoming a generic explainer.

Step 3: Generate the script from the knowledge base

Ask for a structure with retention in mind:

  1. Hook
  2. Problem
  3. Main comparison or explanation
  4. Evidence and examples
  5. Practical recommendation
  6. Closing line and CTA

For creator workflows, the script should include spoken lines, visual beats, and places where source material should be shown on screen.

Step 4: Repurpose the same source base

After the main script, reuse the same knowledge base to generate:

  • Slide inserts
  • Shorts hooks
  • Thumbnail text options
  • Video description
  • Community post
  • Follow-up episode ideas
